Beautiful.

I do believe this was the first book of the two, copyright 1979; an updated version came out in 1998, I believe. When the later edition came out, I was quite distraught, thinking that I would never find the "original." I searched second-hand books stores while in Yorkshire two years ago, and then found out that the "original" is still readily available. Of the two, I found the "original," this one, so much the better of the two. If you are lucky enough to visit Yorkshire as a tourist, this is the book you need to have as a memory of that wonderful place. It is such a personal journey that it may not affect others the way it affects me, but it is more than just a coffee-table book. Excellent writing; great description of the area by a man who truly loved Yorkshire.

James Herriot's Yorkshire

I am truly blessed to own TWO ORIGINAL copies. Plus, they are both SIGNED copies.

I spent a month in Herrogate,England in 1985. I went on EVERY Herriot Tour. Easy to see why Herriot never left the Dales.

I own ALL the Herriot books, and do wish they would show the TV Series again. Think of all the people who have never seen this wonderful TV program.

Re-Print

I had a copy of this book when it first was published. I loaned it to a friend who never returned it. Now, years later, I wanted another copy, which I subsequently received. However, I do not feel the quality of the book is as good as the first one. Binding seems cheaper, and paper quality seems diminished. Contents, however, are as I remember; and I am enjoying the beautiful photography and commentary by Mr. Herriot.
