There's a new edition of this great guide available, as of March 1999. This is definitely the one to go for.
Rough Guides are great because they give introductions before each area. They are more readable than Lonely Planet and that makes them better for planning a trip.
I thought everything was accurate. It's all you really need for travelling in an easy country like Ireland.
Oh, and don't go to Ireland if your not willing to hitchhike. Hitching and biking are the only ways to get to the best parts of Ireland. And make sure you've got a month or more.
There were a number of instances where we tried to go to restaurants or other attractions only to be told that they hadn't been operational in "years". After a few of those, I stopped relying on the guide. Very disappointing. I don't think this is just because the guide was a couple years old. I spoke at length with several proprietors (who for example hadn't served meals in many years) and the book just wasn't accurate.
