A beautiful, classy, picture journey!

This is a portable, soft cover, coffee-table book! It is beautifully crafted, with exquisite pictures, maps and diagrams of ancient buildings and modern towns. The book takes you on a cultural journey through Greece and its history. If you haven't visited Greece, it's a motivator. If you have, it brings back wonderful memories. This book is a broad sweep, you will need supplemental information, but it is unique in providing a visual overview of a beautiful and enchanting land!

Love the DK travel guides!

The DK books are my favorite travel guides and even though I've never been to Greece (yet!) I still like to page though the book. The pictures and diagrams are gorgeous and I like how the authors always bring the culture and history of the area into the discussion.

Great pictures but not thorough enough

The guide itself has beautiful pictures and colorful diagrams, but it really seems more like a nice souvenir or book for your travel collection than a practical guide book you want to accompany you on the trip. It is very, very brief on everything. It's not bad for getting a quick general overview of the islands and some info. on Greek culture, history, climate, etc., perhaps to help you choose the island group you would like to concentrate your trip on. However, as far as a more in-depth, practical guide with real recommendations on hotels and sights, I would recommend a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide to take with you on the trip.
