This book was a wonderful start to planning our trip to Greece. It is thorough and begins with a section on "What's New" to update with changes to traveling to this country...followed by quick facts with the pages marked in RED.
This Guide's chapters on all the places to see begins with a nice description of the area you will travel in, followed by an orientation of the area. The authors then proceed to describe things to see and places to stay along with dining choices. They list them from most expensive to least.
What I enjoyed the most with this guide is the "Quick Tips" they scatter throughout about things to watch for, safety, fun, taxi's, smoking, eating, drinking, shopping, etc. etc. Maps are also laid out in each section you would travel to, to help get a feel for the location.
This guide also has ferry, airline, airport, bus, metro and taxi information in great detail. Websites are also offered for you to do your own research on everything from hotels to ferry schedules. It will give you the best advice on what to avoid and what is not to be missed.
All in all while reading this guide, I literally felt as though I was taken on a guided tour of Greece by a friend who had already traveled there. The writing style is entertaining, yet informative. I felt just about every question I had about Greece is answered in this guide. Can't wait to go in October, especially since I learned from this guide how Greece does things in charging for Hotels. They are all the same, every price quoted includes breakfast, some better than others, and taxes and all charges. No hidden surprises at checkout. This guide also offers star ratings from most preferred to least.
The only thing to watch for is the Guide to the Greek Islands by Frommer's...save your money and just buy this guide, the section on the Greek Islands in the Greece guide is written word for word as the "The Greek Islands" guidebook.
This book was very helpful. It discusses topics regarding cruises which I thought was very helpful.
Just came back from a Greece trip, with Frommer's as my main guide. Overall, I am pretty happy with the information in it. Since I went in April, it's not always clear whether I should follow the Summer or Winter operating hours for attractions. Also, many of the restaurants have not yet opened, or have moved or closed down completely.
