Better than expected travelogue

The quantity of the photos was unexpected in a travel book which is otherwise rather cheaply produced. They enrich the volume immensely, and the main regret is that they were not in color or of better quality. Although the author's political views and running commentary of opinion about modern French literature is a distraction, overall the volume is a good read and provides an interesting insight into this little known region. As a recent traveler in Transylvania, I found that the book brought back many happy memories.
