NOT the 2001 edition

We held off on buying the Green Guide Austria because Amazon listed it as being the 2001 edition and the first review noted that prices were still in Austrian shillings. After calling Michelin and asking when they were going to reprint it we learned that the current version is the 2003 edition. We took a leap of faith and ordered from Amazon, and can report that the book that arrived is the 2003 edition.

We like the Michelin rating system of one, two, and three stars, and are pleased to have this more up-to-date version. I only wish that we had known a year ago that this 2003 edition was what Amazon was providing -- and not the 2001 edition.

Excellent But Somewhat Dated

The book is generally very good, but remember it, like the US auto club tour books, is geared toward the motorist. There is precious little information about rail travel, etc., except for getting around Vienna. Unfortunately it was just published before the Euro became Austria's only currency and all prices, etc. are still denominated in Schillings. The index could also be more comprehensive. Otherwise the book is excellent, and very detailed and I recommend it.
